The Cruelty Free Shop has opened a new brick-and-mortar shop on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy. It has some amazing products and is definitely worth a visit by dairy free Melburnians. 

Coles Chicken Breast Schnitzel

Coles has a dairy free fresh RSPCA approved chicken breast schnitzel available in original and garlic herb flavours. 

Kingland Soy Yogurt

Kingland Soy Yogurt is available at Coles and Woolworths. I tried the Mango & Peach flavour today. It has a great texture and the same probiotic benefits of dairy yogurt. The flavour is not great, though I might get used to it.

Hansells Lemon Tarts

Hansells make dairy free lemon and raspberry tarts that are currently available at Woolworths. 

Smudge Cocoa Spread

Smudge cocoa spread from Freedom Foods is a dairy free, gluten free, nut free, vegan version of Nutella. It's one of two dairy free chocolate spreads easily available in Melbourne grocery stores (the other is a Sweet William product). 

Yalumba vegan friendly wine

Yalumba's wines are now all vegan friendly, which is fantastic news for those of us allergic to the dairy often found in wine.

Fry's Vegan Country Mushroom Pie

Fry's makes a lot of great all-vegan frozen food, widely available at both Coles and Woolworths. I recently tried the Country Mushroom Pie. There are some drawbacks, but I'm looking forward to eating them again.

Coles Bakery Crown Apple Danish

Coles Bakery has an apple danish available in some of their bakeries that, while not loudly advertised as such, is in fact dairy free. I bought one at the Spencer St Coles in the city yesterday to test it out.

I'm excited to be here and I'm especially excited that you're here. I developed a dairy allergy in the recent past and have been researching and experimenting with lots of coping mechanisms that I'd like to share with you. I'll post anything related to living dairy free in Melbourne, Australia, but will focus on local ingredients, local restaurants, general tips and recipes that are good enough to share.
